You don’t need a membership or subscription to pay for your charge. All you need is the bp pulse app to activate, recharge and pay. Download on the Google Play or Apple store today.

Prior to commencement of each bp pulse charging session, there will be a temporary pre-authorisation charge to confirm your payment method. This is to ensure your payment method is valid and to protect our customers from fraudulent activities.

After your successful charging session, final payment will be deducted and your pre-authorisation amount will be refunded to you (refund timelines will depend on your bank).

This is a temporary $1 card verification. We release it immediately, but your bank may show it as pending for a few days.

This is a standard preauthorisation to ensure your payment method works and can cover a typical charging session.

  • The hold adjusts automatically once your session ends.

  • Visa/Mastercard: pre-auth changes to the exact final amount.

  • Amex: may show a second transaction if the session cost exceeded $40.

  • Timing depends on your bank—some update instantly, others take a few days.

No. The $40 is just a temporary hold. Your bank will remove it once they finish processing the final transaction.

Some banks take longer to update or remove holds.

If your receipt or app session summary shows the correct amount, the bank will update the hold shortly.

Different countries’ banks treat preauthorisation's differently. Some:

  • Hold funds longer

  • Don’t adjust holds in real time

  • Convert currencies differently

This is entirely controlled by the issuing bank.
