Simple ways to make your charging time work as hard as your electric vehicle.

10 ideas to help you maximize every minute

Here’s a productivity hack you might not know. In a busy world, time spent recharging your EV can be a golden opportunity to catch up with a few things and relax. Here are ten tips for a productive charging session.

Treat yourself to a snack or drink

Whether you're grabbing a fresh coffee or indulging in a tasty donut, you can make the most of your charging time by stopping at a station with a convenience store. Many bp pulse EV chargers are located at bp gas stations, Thorntons, and ampm sites where you can do just that - or for longer road trips, try our TravelCenters of America (TA) locations along highway routes. Find your nearest bp pulse site with our EV charging map.

Get peace of mind with a bit of forward planning

An ABC charging approach – or Always Be Charging – is a great mindset to have in the EV world. While you charge, look at your journey to see where you might want to charge next, so you feel range-confident and fully refreshed when you arrive, too. Just a few minutes on our app, or Google Maps, will show you chargers on your route.

Download our app to view charging details

If you’re flicking through emails and news, why not download our app for free while you’re at it. You can filter charging locations by charging speed or connector type, manage your charging activity, and even save favorite locations for later.

Catch up on that hot new book, podcast or audiobook

Reading or listening to something new can reap huge benefits for drivers. Feel calm, inspired, and re-energized for the drive ahead.

Give your playlist a refresh

Make the most of your charging time to curate some new music for yourself. Whether it's Beyoncé, The Beatles, or Benson Boone, find the tunes that'll get your onward journey pumping!

Grab a meal

While a snack is great for a quick stop, sometimes lunch breaks and longer road trips call for something more substantial. Thankfully, plenty of bp pulse locations have fast-food restaurants right on-site or nearby, so you can grab a burger, fries, or whatever you’re craving while your EV powers up. Before you pull in, use your favorite map app to scope out nearby restaurants and plan your stop for maximum convenience.

Go for a walk

If you’ve got a dog in the car, or just need to get those steps in, go for a quick walk and get some fresh air while you charge. Once you’ve finished charging, if you think you’re going to be away for a while, don’t forget to free up the charging space for others.

Make some memories

Traveling with kids? While your EV is charging, why not keep your children entertained with a few rounds of thumb wrestling or rock, paper, scissors? Bringing back these classic games from childhood can be a fun way to spend time together and make the most of your charging stop.

Take a comfort break

Some bp pulse locations, like our largest site near Los Angeles International (LAX) and our hub in Duarte, offer on-site restrooms and lounges. They’re ideal for rideshare drivers who need a quick comfort break between jobs, or as a convenient pit stop for everyday EV drivers.

Try a stretch

A short yoga video with upper body stretches can bring lots of health benefits in the middle of a drive. Limber up while you top-up so you can get back in the EV feeling refreshed.

We hope you now feel as enthusiastic about your EV charging experience as you do about your destination. And remember - we're always here to support your charging journey. See you on the road!
