Lux Bus is rooted in a mission to get passengers to their destination in comfort, while pursuing proactive and innovative solutions to do so. With this mission in mind, Lux Bus explored electrifying their charter vehicles and considering sustainability as a top priority, matching the initiatives of many of their customers. To accomplish this goal, Lux Bus enlisted bp pulse to provide the electrification infrastructure and leverage our expertise in working with utility partners.
Joining forces in January 2022, bp pulse accessed the current fleet size and the goals for future scaling to recommend the right charging infrastructure for those long term plans.
The right size for scale
Lux Bus began their electrification project with two electric vans and small, lower power chargers installed on their existing electrical service line to meet their immediate charging needs. As Lux Bus developed the full scope of their expansion, they sought a charging infrastructure partner to support their growing fleet of electric vans. Joining forces in January 2022, bp pulse assessed the current fleet size and the goals for future scaling to recommend the right charging infrastructure for those long term plans.
bp pulse determined that Lux Bus would need five chargers to support their five electric vans, and allow for future electric vehicles to be added. bp pulse also managed relations with their utility provider, PG&E, to request a dedicated EV service through the PG&E EV Fleet incentive program, ensuring electrical service would be available for their future expansion.
